Visa-free entry

EU nationals and citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland do not normally need a visa to enter Germany and may enter the country with their national identity card provided they do not intend to stay longer than 3 months. Additionally, nationals of Australia, Canada, Isreal, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, or the USA do not need a visa to enter Germany provided they do not intend to stay longer than 3 months.

In case that you need a visa to visit the conference, make sure that you familiarize yourself with the processing times. For more information visit the website of the German missions abroad.

Please find a summary of the visa requirements for non-EU citizens for a short stay (up to 90 days):

  • Completed visa application form
  • Valid passport
  • Biometric passport photo
  • Proof of health insurance (valid in the Schengen area)
  • Travel insurance with coverage of min. €30.000
  • Proof of intention to return
    (e.g. employment contract, certificate of enrollment)
  • Proof of financial means (e.g. pay slip, certificate of enrollment)
  • Flight reservation (outbound and return) and proof of accommodation
  • Invitation letter to the conference
    (will be provided with the registration)
