Call for SPC Members

IIJCAI-ECAI 2026 is currently seeking knowledgeable individuals to join our Senior Program Committee (SPC members). If you have proven expertise in the field, we encourage you to express your interest by filling out the application form provided. As a rough guidance, for the SPC we are looking for researchers who have at least a few years of post-PhD experience, have several publications in highly selective venues, and previous exposure to IJCAI or AAAI (as an author, past PC member, or SPC member).

SPC positions are limited, hence even if you are fully qualified (or highly overqualified), we might not be able to assign you an SPC role, but we would still appreciate your help and your contribution as a PC member.

As an SPC member you are expected to handle around overall 12-16 submissions assigned to you for the reviewing period of Jan. 29 to Feb. 28, 2026 (1st phase), and to continue handling those submissions that are accepted for the 2nd phase, until Apr. 20, 2026. Depending on the number of submissions we receive and on the area, in exceptional cases SPC members should be prepared to handle up to 20 submissions in the 1st phase.

For each of these submissions, your job would include the following: (1) making sure that the PC members are providing their reviews on time; (2) suggesting or finding replacements for those cases where the PC members cannot deliver their reviews; (3) going through all reviews, assessing their appropriateness, and encouraging PC members to improve their review, if needed; (4) approving paper rejections in the 1st phase; (5) for the 2nd phase, initiating and guiding the discussion among the PC members; and (6) preparing a summary of the discussion and of the reviews in the form of a meta-review and providing a recommendation to the Program Chairs. We hope that you will at least skim most of the submissions in your batch, but we expect that, for many of them, you will be able to make a recommendation without checking the technical details.

After completing your duties, you will receive a certificate acknowledging the actual work you have carried out.IJCAI-ECAI 2026 implements for the first time the Primary Paper Initiative, which will generate proceeds that are used as an incentive to highly committed SPC members. Specifically, via the Peer Reviewers Recognition Policy, SPC members who meet clearly defined criteria for bidding, monitoring of reviews for timeliness and quality, leading of discussions, and high quality meta-reviewing, will qualify to benefit from these proceeds.
